"la Soirée des Talents"     and "la Course contre la Faim" on Friday 7 May.

An introduction from the Headmaster.

The Lycée International in Antwerp has been schooling children in French for a long time. In recent years, it has adapted this longlasting tradition to fulfil a twofold ambition.

Its first aim is to school French children whose families have to stay in Belgium for professional or other reasons. These families may rely upon our school to offer a curriculum in conformity with French educational standards.
Our establishment has received certification from the French Ministry of Education and provides an education on a par with what parents and children will find both in France and all over the world thanks to the network of the AEFE (Agence pour l'Enseignement Français à l'Etranger).

At the same time, taking into account the location of the Lycée in an area and a city with a rich cultural background and a dynamic economy, a cultural and linguistic policy has been developed. It widens the scope of the original curriculum while enabling the Lycée to welcome children from all origins. It offers many opportunities for later studies. Specific devices are implemented to provide support for the children who are not native French speakers.

With around twenty nationalities represented, our school is really International. As an example, lessons in Dutch and English are provided at an early stage in level groups. Thus, each child receives a training adapted both to the regional context and to the contemporary world.

Situated in Antwerp the Lycée International is easily accessible by all means of transport.

Thanks to the structure of the school and the very small number of pupils in each class, academic standards are very high. The education the pupils receive is tailored to their needs, allowing each individual to succeed and fully exploit his or her potential.

Our educational community is based on values which we experience in our every day life : autonomy and participation in collective life, secular education and mutual respect, solidarity and citizenship.

It is an honour for me to be the head of a school which faces the challenges of the modern world while boasting a longlasting tradition : teaching French in Flanders.
